The Design and Implementation of Meta

The Meta toolkit provides an infrastructure based upon the reac-tive system architecture for fault-tolerant management of distributed applications. Management policies are expressed as a set of rules, which are executed by Meta in a distributed fashion. The Meta system was implemented using ISIS as a basis. Although the concepts and architecture of Meta are independent of ISIS, the ISIS system provides many of the fundamental abstractions crucial to a system such as Meta. This paper discusses the design and implementation of Meta, and describes in detail how Meta was implemented using ISIS.
